India faces an acute shortage of skilled doctors, more so in the north eastern part of the nation. When we speak of super-specialists, the gap is wider. For example, internationally, there is one cardiologist and one neurologist for every 100,000 population. The state of Assam has a population of 33 million, which means the state needs 330 neurologists and cardiologists, each. Against this requirement, Assam has only 12 to 13 neurologists and cardiologists in the state. GNRC, being the leading health care institution in North East India, has taken the initiative to provide the training necessary to develop medical specialists the region needs.GNRC Institute of Allied Health Sciences is affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati.

Currently, GNRC Institute of Allied Health Sciences offers the following approved courses:

  • 2 years diploma in Critical Care
  • 2 years diploma in Clinical Neurology
  • 2 years diploma in Clinical Cardiology
