• MD (Medicine) in 1988 from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
• DM (Cardiology) in 1993 from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
• Rank 10th in the university in 2nd MBBS examination

• Worked as Senior Resident (in Medicine) for two-and-a-half years at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
• Worked as Senior Resident (in Cardiology) for three years at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
• Cardiologist in Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi for 3 years
• Joined GNRC Heart Institute, Guwahati, India in August 1997 as senior consultant & subsequently as director of cardiology department
• Introduced coronary angiography through radial route at GNRC
• Performs coronary intervention, valvular intervention ASD, VSD, PDA device closure, Pace-maker, ICD, CRD implementation
• Conducting post-doctoral DNB programme in Cardiology
• Authored or co-authored over 20 publications and research papers
