The Accident & Emergency Department of GNRC Medical has been raised in the month of February, 2014 in an attempt to cater to people who suffer from sudden and uncalled Medical, Trauma, and any kind of Environmental emergencies, be it man made or natural. Though the footfall in Accident & Emergency was initially less but has been gradually increasing phenomenally and at present, we have footfall of 50 per day, on average, of different types of emergencies.
GNRC, since its inception is known as the best Trauma and Emergency Care Center hospital in Assam and is specialized in all types of Trauma and Urgent Care treatments, at affordable rates making it the best Trauma Care Hospital in Guwahati, Assam.
We follow the GNRC protocol of “Promptness, Appropriateness and Empathy” in caring the patients in our Accident & Emergency Department. As soon as the patient arrives at the door of Emergency, the security personnel engaged in the duty alerts the Accident & Emergency staff by buzzing a calling bell. On hearing the alarm, one Doctor on duty with two Paramedics proceeds to the ‘Triage’ area. They perform the ‘Triage’ and categorize and prioritize the patients based on their severities into P1 (Red-Immediate intervention required), P2 (Yellow-Major, but can wait up to 15 Minutes), P3 (Green-Minor, can wait up to half an hour) and Black or Dead. After completion of Triaging, the patients are shifted to the appropriate examination bed in the Accident & Emergency ward as quickly as possible.
The patients are being then assessed meticulously using appropriate skills and other required adjuncts by experienced Doctors having exposure to Emergency Medicine. All patients are stabilized with appropriate interventions before shifting to the retention beds either in the ward or in the ICU. During the process of caring and stabilization in the Emergency department, intervention or opinion of concerned Consultant has been sought always. We have a strict standard operating procedure/protocol in differentiating patients’ shifting to Ward/Cabin or to ICU.
Moreover, we have an isolation room - to limit the spread of contagious diseases. The department of Accident & Emergency is managed by specialists in emergency medicine (who have completed MD in emergency) along with trained residents in emergency with a backup by critical care physicians which include all services.
Over and above, we offer some facilities to the patients which are unique to our hospital, nowhere to be found in the World in Health Care Institutions, making it the best and affordable hospital for any kind of accident and medical emergency condition. Listed below are the facilities that we offer to our patients;
- Pre-hospital Care with Free Transportation: We have 6 ALS and 26 BLS Ambulances that provide free transportation of Emergency patients from the scene of incidence or accidents to our hospital round the clock, 365 days. The ALS (Advanced Life Support) Ambulances are equipped with all Life-Saving equipments, like Multipara Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, Suction Machine, Defibrillator, Endo Tracheal Intubation Set, Splinting and Dressing materials along with all other Life-Saving Medications. These Ambulances are manned by highly experienced Advanced Life Support Provider Emergency Medical Technicians trained in BLS and ACLS by American Heart Association. They not only provide free transportation to the patients, they are equally competent in providing all Basic and Advanced Life Support Measures appropriately. If required, they contact the Emergency Physician in the Emergency department for any kind of opinion. On the other hand, the BLS Ambulances are manned by Basic EMTs/ Ambulance Attendants who provide basic life support care and free transportation in case of patients having relatively minor illnesses or minor trauma.
- 24 Hours Free Accident & Emergency Service: Under this scheme, we provide some unique facilities to the seriously sick patients which include free accommodation for the first 24 hours of admission into our hospital, free dispensing of around 38 most essential medications, few must do investigations like ECG, RBS and so on.
- CT scan & MRI Brain and X-Ray: For all emergency patients, we do CT Scan of Brain (Rs. 900/) and MRI of Brain (Rs.2500/-) at a much less price, as compared to other diagnostic centres. The same is applicable to X-Ray examination also.
- As per usual practices of our hospital no service charges are raised to the patients. All procedures that are carried out in Accident & Emergency are free of cost.
