WHAT IS A STROKE?

A stroke occurs when the blood vessel carrying blood to a part of the brain is blocked by a clot or bursts preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. When that happens, the part of the brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs and brain cells begin to die.

Ischemic Stroke – blockage of blood vessel

Haemorrhagic Stroke – rupture/ burst of the blood vessel

•    Confusion

Difficulty speaking, or understanding speech

•    Difficulty seeing from one or both eyes,

•    Dizziness loss of balance or coordination

•    Severe headache
