Gohpur, Assam, October 18, 2024 — GNRC Hospitals, in its ongoing mission to provide Universal Health Care, especially to lower-middle-income families in Assam, organized a mega health checkup camp in Dubia, Gohpur in association with Dubia Unnayan Samiti. The initiative, which was held at Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah’s birthplace, witnessed an overwhelming response with more than 500 local residents attending the event.
The camp, held on October 18 at the premises of Dubia Girl’s High School, offered comprehensive medical services through consultations with seven specialist doctors in the fields of Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Medicine. Participants received consultations from specialist doctors, along with complimentary medicines, blood glucose checks, and ECG tests—all provided 100% cashless. The specialist doctors provided thorough checkups and medical advice to more than five hundred patients, many of whom had limited access to healthcare. This initiative was part of GNRC Hospitals’ vision to ensure no one is left behind when it comes to healthcare access.
The event was graced by MLA of Gohpur constituency Shri Utpal Borah, who inaugurated the programme. Their presence underscored the community’s collective commitment to improving healthcare access in the region. The health camp was coordinated by Dr. Jugal Borah, former Principal of Nehru Higher Secondary School in Gohpur subdivision, winner of National Teacher’s Award conferred by the Honourable President of India who played a crucial role in organizing the event alongside GNRC Hospitals. The success of the camp was further enhanced by the efforts of Dubia Unnayan Samiti, whose active involvement in raising awareness contributed to the large turnout.
Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah, the visionary founder of GNRC Hospitals, was present at the camp and interacted with the attendees. He shared his personal experiences and reaffirmed his commitment to his mission of universal healthcare for the people of Assam. Addressing the crowd, Dr. Borah said, “Healthcare is a basic human right, not a privilege. We are determined to bring quality medical services to every corner of Assam, ensuring that even those with limited means can access care without financial burden.” He highlighted GNRC’s ongoing efforts to provide cashless treatment options for the people of Assam, aimed at alleviating the economic pressures associated with healthcare costs.
The success of this health camp underscores the urgent need for initiatives that reach the underserved sections of society. GNRC Hospitals, known as a pioneer in Neurological services in Northeast India, has continuously expanded its tertiary healthcare services to address broader medical needs. This free health checkup camp is one of many outreach efforts that GNRC Hospitals plans to conduct to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility for the region’s lower-income groups.
Attendees of the health camp expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive consultations from top specialists without financial constraints. For many, this was their first opportunity to meet doctors specializing in Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, and General Medicine, ensuring a holistic approach to health that they might not otherwise have access to.
GNRC Hospitals remains dedicated to creating a healthier future for all by leading the way in providing cashless, universal health coverage across Assam. GNRC Hospitals continues to lead by example, ensuring that its vision of providing world class healthcare to every individual, irrespective of their financial status, becomes a reality. With a clear focus on improving healthcare outcomes in Assam, GNRC is committed to creating a healthier future for all.
