GNRC NephroCon 2025 brings leading nephrology experts together to chart the future of kidney care in Northeast India

GNRC Hospitals successfully organized GNRC NephroCon 2025 — a day-long multispecialty academic convention dedicated to the latest advancements and challenges in nephrology — today at the NEDFi Convention Centre, Guwahati. The event brought together over a hundred nephrologists, urologists, and internal medicine specialists from across the Northeast and the rest of India to discuss innovations and collaborative models in kidney care.
The conference featured eminent speakers including Dr. Sanjiv Saxena (Chairman & Head, PSRI Institute of Renal Sciences, New Delhi), Prof. Dr. Dilip Kumar Pahari (Sr. Consultant Nephrologist, Manipal Hospital E.M. Bypass), Dr. Sreeharsha Harinatha (Robotic & Transplant Urologist, Kauvery Hospital, Bangalore) among several leading nephrology experts from across the region.

Organised under the leadership of Dr. Neeraj Nirala, Consultant Nephrologist, GNRC Hospitals – Dispur, the event served as a vibrant academic platform for the exchange of new ideas in the management of kidney disease, dialysis, and transplantation. Dr. Nirala, who also served as Organising Secretary of the conference, delivered an insightful session on the “Journey of Nephrology in GNRC and Northeast India”, highlighting GNRC’s pioneering role in making advanced renal care accessible to people of the region.

“Our mission has always been to ensure that no person in the Northeast is deprived of quality renal care because of cost or distance. Through GNRC NephroCon 2025, we aimed to foster collaboration amongst the nephrologists to carry forward that mission,” said Dr. Neeraj Nirala, Organising Secretary, GNRC NephroCon 2025.

The scientific sessions covered a broad spectrum of topics such as robotic kidney transplantation, antibody-mediated rejection, peritoneal dialysis, anaemia management in CKD, and arteriovenous fistula by nephrologists. The two panel discussions focused on “Acute Kidney Injury in Different Specialties” and “Chronic Kidney Disease – Managing from Primary Level to Specialist Level.”

Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah, Chairman & Managing Director, GNRC Group of Hospitals, served as Chief Patron of the event, with Ms. Priyanka Borah, Group Director, and Dr. Madhurjya Borah and Mrs. Satabdee Borah, Executive Directors, GNRC Group of Hospitals, as Advisors.
The event concluded with a strong message of continuing collaboration between nephrologists, urologists, and general physicians to improve early detection and management of kidney disease in the community — in alignment with GNRC’s vision under the Universal Health Mission.
